Gender- & Diversity-Sensitive Approaches for Higher Level Education (English)

An increasingly diverse student body and a greater awareness of equal opportunities and antidiscrimination present us with new challenges as university level educators. This seminar offers an introductory overview of gender and diversity competencies, as well as in-depth insights into practical topics of teaching at university level:
What does gender and diversity-sensitive teaching look like? Which options do I have for adapting content and methods to the different needs, talents, and expectations of my students? How can I communicate, motivate, inspire and empower in a way that is inclusive and enables participation while maintaing high standards and excellence of my courses?
In the seminar, participants learn about important basic concepts and theories of gender- and diversity-sensitive teaching to then look deeper into the various areas of competences. The content and methods of the seminar are coordinated in such a way that quiet, self-reflective exercises alternate with creative work phases. Participants learn with and from each other and apply their new knowledge to specific examples (ideally to their own teaching and learning concepts). The goal of the seminar is to support participants in putting together their individual toolbox for student-centered, gender-sensitive and truly diverse teaching.
